Stelara

What is Stelara?

Stelara (ustekinumab) is a human monoclonal antibody used to treat psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and moderately to severely active Crohn's disease after other medicines have been tried without success. Stelara is also used in adults to treat moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis.

How does Stelara Work?

Stelara is an immunosuppressant that blocks interleukin IL-12 and IL-23, which can cause inflammation. Blocking these interleukins prevents them from binding to their receptors on T cells and triggering the body’s inflammatory response.
